Sensitivity Training:

Today we will explore how and why we develop our attitudes and stereotypes regarding persons with disabilities.  By recognizing that we all have them, it can assist us in becoming more sensitive towards persons with disabilities in the future.

Our attitudes towards disabilities is the real disability.  Attitudes create stereotypes.  And most stereotypes develop as a result of fear.  FEAR or False Evidence Appearing Real.  

Fact: Over 80% of all disabled people in the U.S. acquired their disability after the age of twenty.  

Fact: Most people surveyed feel that everyone with a disability is in some type of physical or emotional pain.
