OVERVIEW OF THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT (ADA)

The Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into Law by President Bush on July 26, 1990. This law guarantees equal opportunity and civil rights protection to individuals with disabilities in public and private sector services and employment. The law is divided into five sections or Titles:

Title I: Employment
Title II: Public Sector Services (BPT/CDC)
Title III: Private Sector Service
Title IV: Telecommunications
Title V: Miscellaneous Provisions
