AUXILIARY AIDS AND SERVICES:

Auxiliary Aids and services are devices that accommodate a functional limitation of a person with a communication-related disability.

The type of auxiliary aid or service necessary to achieve effective communication for inmates/parolees with disabilities will vary from case to case and will vary in accordance with the length and complexity of the communication involved and the severity of the disability. The individual with the disability is usually the best source of information.

Auxiliary aids such as assistive listening devices, magnifying devices and Telecommunications for the Deaf (TDD) will be available upon request and maintained by the ADACU.

The ADACU will track aids/equipment to ensure they are shipped to the appropriate Regional Hearing Coordinator (RHC) or Board Coordinating Parole Agent (BCPA).

Public entities are not expected to use the newest or most advanced technologies as long as the auxiliary aid or service that is selected allows effective communication.
