REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS FOR VISION IMPAIRMENTS:

1) Large Print is only effective when the inmate/parolee has some vision.
2) Magnifying devices are only effective when the inmate/parolee has some vision.
3) Audio tape, when used, the inmate/parolee must be provided with enough time to listen to the tape and to rewind and review as necessary.
4) Electronic equipment (reading machines), including the Galileo machine, are available at DPP CDC institutions. 
5) Staff assistance: Only BPT or CDC staff who have received the appropriate training in providing an accommodation shall be used as staff assistants.
6) Qualified Readers are trained in how to analyze a document, describe its layout and ensure that the structure and context of the document are clear to the person with the vision impairment.
7) Braille material (BPT documents) shall be available upon request.
